FAQs
| Q1 |
How does a Safety Station vending machine work?
The employee presents a card or fob to a reader on the front of the safety machine. Their name will appear on the card reader and they can then make a selection from the safety equipment or tools available, similar to using a normal snack vending machine. The product is removed from the delivery bin and the transaction is complete. |
| Q2 |
Can we use our existing cards with the Safety Station cashless systems?
This option is possible depending on what kind of system is currently being used. We have had success many times with giving our customers ‘one card does it all’ cashless systems. |
| Q3 |
How do I access the purchase records and reports of safety equipment dispensed?
Our inventory control system is web based, which means that it can be accessed from anywhere there is internet connection. Products can be changed remotely over the internet. PPE vending machine purchases appear on the server within seconds of the product being taken. |
| Q4 |
Are there any limitations as to what personal protection equipment can be vended?
Yes, there are size and weight restrictions, but most safety equipment consumables such as gloves, safety specs and respiratory masks can all vend with no problems. We have had success creating vending solutions with many and varied products. |
| Q5 |
How much can I save on my personal protection equipment spend by using a PPE vending machine?
We have seen of savings of 30-60 per cent on personal protection equipment spending. In using a safety machine vending solution, PPE distribution is controlled through the inventory control system so wastage is reduced significantly. The safety machine is operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week so downtime is reduced due to products always being available. |
| Q6 |
How does the safety machine communicate with the internet?
The preferred option is to connect to the internet onsite via a LAN cable, however a GPRS (sim card) can also be used. More remote sites will need the LAN option as mobile reception can be unreliable. |
| Q7 |
Does Safety Stations supply personal protection equipment?
No, we only supply PPE vending solutions. We are more than happy to help customers find the best solution for you using your current PPE supplier and/or using your existing manpower for servicing and restocking. |
| Q8 |
How do I work out which products to put in?
A Safety Stations consultant can help you decide what the best product options are for you based on your current safety equipment usage. |
| Q9 |
Do the PPE vending machines require a lot of technical service?
Not at all. As they are not refrigerated and use low voltage LED lighting there are very few - if any - technical problems that can be encountered. If there is a problem, help is only a phone call away. |
| Q10 |
How many machines would I need to create a vending solution for my site?
Experience has shown that approximately 1 machine per 100 people is a good estimate. |
| Q11 |
How can we record supply of larger items that won't fit in the machine?
Safety Stations can also supply a "desktop reader" which can turn your current store room for larger personal protection equipment items (hard hats and work boots for example) into a checkout type system. The same cashless systems cards used on the Safety Stations will also operate the desktop reader. All purchase records will be recorded in the inventory control system. |
| Q12 |
What kind of reports does the inventory control systems site produce?
The reports can be created in .PDF or .CSV formats and can include everything from individual user reports to the whole company’s usage. Employees can also be grouped for more efficient costings. We believe that our inventory control system is the most thorough and user-friendly on the market. |
| Q13 |
Do I need to buy a vending solution outright or can I lease a Safety Station?
We have both options available. |
| Q14 |
Does Safety Stations supply the cards/fob keys for the cashless systems?
Yes, we can supply cards that are printed with your company logo and other information as required. |
| Q15 |
How do I learn to use the inventory control system?
The system is very simple to use. A small amount of training is required to realise the full potential it has to offer. Each page has a help menu available and personal assistance is only a phone call away. |
